Now that I have explained how to shop @ Walgreens using Register Rewards, let's get back to the basics. Here is everything you need to know to shop like a coupon bomb at Walgreens!
Weekly Ads
Walgreens has a new ad every week that runs from Sunday to Saturday. It really helps to have the ad as a reference while you are shopping {in case you need to find a cheap filler, to clarify which product is on sale, or for in-ad coupons}! So grab one when you walk in. They are right by the doors.
In-Ad Coupons
Another reason to have a copy of the ad is for the In-Ad coupons! These coupons CAN be "stacked" with manufacturer coupons for even BETTER savings. Don't forget to use these! It's best to hand over manufacturer coupons first and then Walgreens coupons.
Montly Coupon Booklet
Each month, Walgreens will have a new booklet FULL of coupons! You can find these right by the weekly ad at the front of the store. Don't forget to pick up your NEW booklet at the beginning of each month!
Most of the time these are Walgreens Store coupons that you CAN stack with manufacturer coupons. Just make sure to meet the correct size/type specifications listed on the coupon. You do NOT have to tear out these coupons; just show them to the cashier.
Infant Care Booklet
If you have a baby or toddler you MUST have this booklet! I have been able to get diapers SO cheap using this booklet! These coupons are considered store coupons that CAN be stacked with manufacturer coupons.
* Ask an employee if they have any {they sometimes have them behind the counter}. Or you can also buy them off eBay.
* Also, you do NOT have to tear them out. Just show it to the cashier. {I have heard that many cashiers will let you just tell them the code you want to use. I have the codes if you need them}
Walgreens Coupon Policy
I recommend you read and print a copy of the Walgreens Coupon Policy! Some cashiers don't know their own policy, so you need to know it and educate them! Here are a few highlights:
* If the register won't accept your coupon because it's higher than the price of the item, show the cashier that they should reduce the coupon value.
* You can use TWO coupons in a B1G1 FREE promo even though 1 item is already FREE!
Planning Your Shopping Trip
It is SO important to plan! You need to know:
* EXACTLY what you will be buying,
* EXACTLY which coupons & RRs to use and
* EXACTLY how much you should pay and what RRs you will earn.
So HOW do you know all this? Copy & paste the deals into a Word document! Often at my store (especially on Sunday mornings) the shelves aren't marked with sale tags!
* The best way to know which product/size/variety is on sale (and to remember everything on your list) is to have it on paper. {details are important!}
* Cashiers (and couponers) make mistakes! Maybe a coupon was missed, or a price rang up wrong. You don't want to overpay because you didn't catch the mistake!
* Sometimes Register Rewards don't print out! You need to know which RRs will be printing so you can tell the cashier when you miss one. Usually the manager can get the RR to print for you by re-ringing the sale.
Checking Out
* Remember the order:
1. Manufacturer Coupons
2. Walgreen’s In-Ad Coupons
3. Register Rewards
* Remember to use filler items. If the register beeps and won't accept one of your coupons or Register Rewards, you may just need a filler item {something inexpensive} so that you don't have more manufacturer coupons and RRs than items.
* Remember to do multiple transactions if you are buying multiples of a product that gives Register Rewards. I just get back in line after the first transaction so I don't hold things up by taking forever! {If you missed the post on Register Rewards, or need to read it again, click here}
